Iceland in short Iceland joined the contest in 1986 and is now the only Nordic country who never won it (yes, even Finland won). Twice in the top 5 but mostly far from it, Iceland can now only dream of a spot in the final, to which it hasn't qualified since 2004. Despite going home early, Iceland became a Eurovision classic in 2006 when Silvia Night proclaimed superiority and was booed off the stage by an angry Greek mob. She also inspired the name of this website. 2008 The band Eurobandið won an expected vitory in the Icelandic preselection with the remixed version of their song This is my life. The band, who have a habit of covering past Eurovision songs, consists of the lead singers Regína Ósk and Friðrik Ómar. Then there are four other well-known guys who are members of the band, but who were not good looking enough to be on stage, and have therefore been replaced by four female dancers. |
