Malta in short

In 1971 the Mediterranean archipelago entered for the first time, in Maltese, and came last. After another try in Maltese with a similar result, and a mediocre result in English in 1975, Malta quit the contest until 1991.

In the nineties though the story became entirely different with 8 consecutive top 10 finishes. When in 1999 free language was introduced Malta seemed to suffer at first, but still managed to become 2nd twice, with Ira Losco and Chiara's Angel, and never missed a final.

All that until 2007, when the Maltese finally decided to get rid of their NF regular Olivia Lewis, who induced Vertigo to the viewers and finished 25th in the semifinal.

2008

Newcomer Morena (Margaret Camilleri Fenech) will sing Vodka for Malta in Belgrade. It is written by Gerard James Borg and Philip Vella, who will repressent the country for the fifth time.

Vodka is one of the world's most popular distilled beverages. It is a clear liquid containing water, ethanol purified by distillation from a fermented substance such as potatoes, grain or sugar beet molasses, and an insignificant amount of other substances: impurities and possibly flavourings. Except for various types of flavourings, vodka is a colourless liquid.
